Use a color picker to pick what area in your photo is white, such that the black/white point, temperature, and tint are corrected.
That’ is very important and a must-use tool for every photographer 👍🏻
Definitely the ONE feature that would make Darkroom perfect for me.
I always start with white balance in DxO and it’s super critical. Especially at home in the evening in front of big windows iPhones ProRaw (which DxO doesn’t support) just gets it wrong 100% of the time. I have 2700K inside but the big background outside is probably more like 7000K but no longer shining in so everything looks awful…
I can’t believe such a basic and essential editing feature is still missing from Darkroom.
I love the existing way the color temp control works, but that is precisely because it’s different from how other photo editors work. Darkroom cools or warms the colors in the image, while others seem to overlay blue or yellow and blend as necessary. I vastly prefer Darkroom’s approach. But I can see what others might want from how other editors do it, and hope there is a way to move forward preserving both ways of adjustnet.
The missing white balance control I’m referring to is the one where you can tap on an eye dropper button and then click on any neutral grey area in the photo to set the balance. This is strikingly different from controls that require you to manually adjust tint, which in many cases makes it impossible to properly correct the WB.
Aye, that is well-noted and missed. I used to use that a lot in other apps, and it wound be welcome in Darkroom.
